Since October 2011, I have been posting articles titled “Memories of Figure Names” on Facebook group “Ballroom & Latin Dancer Memory Lane”. I decided to leave those articles on this HP for record.
2011年10月からFacebookグループ”Ballroom & Latin Dancer Memory Lane”に「フィガー名の思い出」という記事を投稿しています。 これらの記事を記録のためにこのHPに残すことにしました。
“Memories of Figure Names No.31 Brush tap”
This figure is shown already in “MODERN BALLROOM DANCING” (Henry Jacques 1938) but as “Argentine Change (Brush Tap)” with the count “QQQQ”.
By the way, when I watched this dance by Marcus & Karen first time I couldn’t recognize what figure they used. But it was so cool and so impressive that I wanted to try it myself immediately.
I had studied this figure in ISTD textbook (1/8 turn to left between 1-2) but as I checked it up in due course, it was noticed the amount of turn in IDTA textbook was shown as “1/4 turn to the left between 1-2” (also 1/8) and I understood this was what Marcus & Karen danced.
I will never forget the shock of seeing a completely different dance just by increasing the rotation by 1/8.

「フィガー名の思い出31 ブラッシュ・タップ」
このフィガーは1938年発行の”MODERN BALLROOM DANCING”（Henry Jacques）に「アルゼンチン・チェンジ」として出ています。因みに、この時のカウントはＱＱＱＱです。
ところで、Marcus & Karen のこのビデオを初めて見たとき、彼らが何のフィギュアを使っているのか分かりませんでした。 でも、とてもかっこ良く、印象的だったので、すぐに自分で試してみたいと思いました。
私はブラッシュ・タップISTD のテキストで勉強し、「1－2歩間で左に 1/8 回転)」と覚えていました。後にIDTA のテキストで「1－2歩間で左に1/4 回転（1/8でも良い）と書いてあるのを見つけ、これがマーカスとカレンが踊っているものだと理解しました。
1/8回転増やすだけで全く違う踊りに見えた、あの時の衝撃は忘れられないものとなったブラッシュ・タップの思い出です。
