Since October 2011, I have been posting articles titled “Memories of Figure Names” on Facebook group “Ballroom & Latin Dancer Memory Lane”. I decided to leave those articles on this HP for record.
2011年10月からFacebookグループ”Ballroom & Latin Dancer Memory Lane”に「フィガー名の思い出」という記事を投稿しています。 これらの記事を記録のためにこのHPに残すことにしました。
“Memories of Figure Names (7) / Corta Jaca”
One of the references said that the meaning of this name was “cutting of the apple”, but I was shocked when I learned that the English word for Jaka is Jackfruit, and when I found out that it is the largest fruit in the world, not just an apple (laughs).
Wikipedia says, “The word jackfruit comes from Portuguese jaca, which in turn is derived from the Malayalam language term chakka…”
Still, I can’t connect the meaning I’ve arrived at with the Corta Jaca movement. I would be grateful if someone could help me.

「フィガー名の思い出（7）／コルタ・ジャカ」
ある文献にこの意味は「リンゴの切り口」とあったのですが、ジャカの英語がジャックフルーツと知り、調べていくとリンゴどころではない世界最大の果物と知った時の衝撃は凄かったです（笑）。
ウィキペディアには「英語でJack fruitと呼ばれるのは、マラヤラム語の「Chakka」が、ポルトガル語に借用されて「Jaca」となり、それが英語に借用され、類型を示すfruitと結びついた結果と考えられる」と出ています。
それでもなお、この調べ着いた意味とコルタ・ジャカの動きとが結びつきません。どなたか教えて下さるとありがたいです。
