Memories of Figure Names (6) / Reverse Turn and Feather Finish
The heel pull in the second half of the Reverse Turn is really stylish and I thought it was a recent variation, but actually this is the original, which was called the Open Turn in the time of 1922. Then, the Feather Finish was born when the shoe got caught in the Heel Pull!
Whenever I dance the Reverse Turn in Foxtrot, this story is in my mind.

リバース・ターン後半でヒール・プルする踊り方が実にスタイリッシュで最近のバリエーションと思っていましたが、実はこれがリバース・ターンの原型で、1922年当時はオープン･ターンと呼ばれていたそうです。そして、後半のヒール・プルで靴が引っかかった所からフェザー・フィニッシュが生まれたという話をビル・アービン氏が語っています。彼の話に、何故か分かりませんが、心が豊かになっていく気がしました。
