“Memories of Figure Names No.20 – Fishtail”

I learned this figure in Alex Moore’s “Ballroom Dancing” in the 1980s. The “Rise & Fall” is, rise at the end of 1, up at 2 ~ 6, and lower at the end of 6, which has been unchanged since it was originated by Henry Jacques. And the whole movement of this attractive figure is certainly reminiscent of the tail of a fish.

However, I’ve long been disappointed that the Fishtail that as far as I see in competitions and/or video medias only look just a Check action and Lock Steps. I was wondering if it was an evolution of the figure or just because of my bad eyesight. Then one day, I found Oliver making similar point in the 2009 Blackpool Congress, I remember I was reassured a little bit.
